BuddyBoss Just Became a True All-in-One Platform: Everything in the 2026 Launch
BuddyBoss has shipped the biggest set of changes in its history. Courses and memberships are now built into the platform, the mobile app has been rebuilt from scratch, members can publish blog posts from the front end, and the entire pricing structure has been rebuilt around a $99 entry point.
We have been building on BuddyBoss for years, and we have watched a lot of people walk away from it for exactly one reason: the stack. This release removes that reason.
Here is everything that changed, what it costs now, and the parts BuddyBoss is being honest about that you should factor in before you buy.

Quick Summary
- Memberships and Courses are now built in. Free and included on the Launch and Scale plans. No separate LMS or membership plugin required.
- New pricing starts at $99 for the first year. Three web plans: Start, Launch and Scale.
- Platform Pro is now Launch. Platform Plus is now Scale. Same features, same renewal price, new names.
- The app was rebuilt on Flutter. Called Next Gen, it is 3X faster, out of early access, with 120+ apps already live in the stores.
- Member Blogging shipped. Members write and publish real WordPress posts from the front end.
- BuddyBoss takes 0% of your course and membership revenue on Launch and Scale. The entry plan carries a small percentage.
- Two real gaps: Next Gen does not support Tutor LMS yet, and the Developer Toolkit does not work with Next Gen at all.
The Three-Plugin Problem BuddyBoss Just Solved
If you priced up a paid community on WordPress at any point in the last five years, you know the list.
A community plugin to run the community. An LMS to teach. A membership plugin to control access and take payment. Three products, three licences, three renewal dates, three support teams.
Before you taught a single lesson, you were looking at $700 or more per year and a stack of integrations to keep in sync. Every time something broke, the first job was working out whose product it belonged to.
That was the single most common reason a BuddyBoss project stalled. Not the software. The shopping list in front of it. Our BuddyBoss vs LearnDash comparison explained why you previously needed both, and that logic has now changed for anyone starting fresh.
The thing that made BuddyBoss complicated was never BuddyBoss. It was everything you had to buy alongside it.
BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses: What Is Now Built In
This is the centre of the launch.
BuddyBoss now ships its own memberships and courses natively. It is a lightweight version of MemberPress, made by a sister company under Awesome Motive, brought inside the platform rather than bolted on as an integration.
It is free and included on the Launch and Scale plans. There is nothing extra to buy.
One thing that catches people out: it is an add-on you install, not something already switched on. Go to BuddyBoss then Settings to find it. If it is not there, check BuddyBoss then Add-ons instead, because the menu location varies by site.
What BuddyBoss Memberships Can Do
You create memberships and sell them once or as a recurring subscription. Both at the same time is fine.
Memberships sit inside Groups, which is what makes real tiered upgrade paths possible rather than a single flat paywall. A free tier, a paid tier, and something at the top for people who want everything. If you are new to how Groups work, our complete guide to BuddyBoss Groups covers the structure this builds on.
There is a built-in pricing page, so that is not a design job you have to take on. You also get page-level Access Protection, which restricts any page based on the membership someone holds, plus protection for profile pages and the member listing page.
What BuddyBoss Courses Include
Courses are built from lessons, quizzes and assignments, delivered inside the community rather than in a separate learning tool.
The quiz builder covers multiple choice, true or false, short answer, essay, fill in the blanks, sort the values, match matrix and Likert scale.
One rule trips everyone up on day one. You have to enable memberships before you can create a course. Access has to exist before the thing being accessed does.
Stripe Only: The Payment Limitation to Check First
Payments run through Stripe only. Stripe Elements or Stripe Checkout, with recurring billing, Apple Pay and Google Wallet included.
If you need a different gateway, that is one of the things MemberPress adds as the upgrade path. For anyone outside Stripe’s supported countries, this is a genuine blocker worth checking before you plan around it.
Should You Switch from LearnDash or MemberPress?
Nothing changes and nothing is being deprecated. BuddyBoss supports both exactly as before, and neither carries a BuddyBoss fee on sales.
This release is aimed at people starting fresh who would rather buy one thing than three. If your existing setup works, keep it. Our guide on creating an online course with BuddyBoss and LearnDash remains accurate for anyone staying on that setup.

BuddyBoss Pricing 2026: Every Plan and Renewal Rate
The entire plan structure has been rebuilt. Current pricing is 50% off for the first year, and the renewal figure is what you pay from year two.
BuddyBoss Web Plans: Start, Launch and Scale
| Plan | First year | Renews at | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Start | $99 | $199 | Memberships and Courses with a small transaction fee, ReadyLaunch, Social Login, Reactions, Polls, Video Uploads, GIPHY, Group Subscriptions, Pinned Posts |
| Launch | $199 | $399 | Everything in Start, 0% fees, BuddyBoss Theme, LearnDash, MemberPress, Tutor and LifterLMS integrations, real-time messaging, web push, access controls, scheduled posts, site SEO |
| Scale | $349 | $699 | Everything in Launch, plus Gamification, Offload Media, Domain Restrictions, Member Blogging |
BuddyBoss App Plans: Solo, Launch and Managed
| Plan | First year | Renews at | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $499 | $999 | Branded app on one platform, iOS or Android, published under your own developer account |
| Launch | $999 | $1,999 | Both iOS and Android, two store listings maintained |
| Managed | $2,999 | $3,999 | Fully managed. BuddyBoss builds, brands, publishes and maintains it monthly. Year one includes the app subscription |
Solo is one platform, not one store. You choose iOS or Android and you get that one app.
For a full breakdown of what these plans replace, see our BuddyBoss pricing guide, which we are updating to reflect this launch.
Platform Pro Is Now Launch, Platform Plus Is Now Scale
Platform Pro is now Launch. Platform Plus is now Scale.
If you are an existing customer, nothing changed except the name. Same features, same renewal price.
This matters because BuddyBoss’s own documentation and older blog posts still use Pro and Plus in places, so you will see both sets of names for a while.
Transaction Fees: What BuddyBoss Takes from Your Sales
Nothing on Launch and Scale. Zero percent of course and membership revenue.
The Start plan carries a small percentage on sales made through BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses with Stripe. The affiliate materials put this at 2.9%, though BuddyBoss’s public post only says “a small percentage” and points to the pricing page, so verify the current rate before you plan around it.
No fee is ever taken on sales through LearnDash, MemberPress, Tutor LMS, LifterLMS, WooCommerce or any other plugin or gateway.
That remains a real advantage over hosted platforms, as we covered in our BuddyBoss vs Circle comparison.
For the first time, someone can start a full course and community business on WordPress for under $100 a year.
The Next Gen BuddyBoss App: Rebuilt on Flutter, 3X Faster
The BuddyBoss app has been rebuilt from the ground up on Flutter, replacing the React Native app it launched with in 2021.
It is out of early access. More than 120 apps built on Next Gen app are already live in the app stores, which is the number that tells you it is finished rather than forthcoming.
BuddyBoss puts the improvement at 3X faster, with better stability. The rebuild prioritised the core experience being fast and reliable before adding features on top, which is the opposite order to how the original app grew.
What Comes with the Next Gen App
The Events Calendar integration on day one
Members browse events, sign up and buy tickets inside the app. The Events Calendar is made by Liquid Web and has over 800,000 active installs, so if you already run events on your site they come with you.
Courses and memberships natively
BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses, LearnDash and MemberPress all deliver inside your branded app.
App Blocks
Layout blocks for carousels, custom post types, videos and images, so you build your own app screens rather than accepting a fixed template. Recent additions include Image Carousel, Video Carousel, Icons Block and Profile Card.
Light and dark mode
in-app purchases, gamification through GamiPress or the BuddyBoss Gamification Module on Scale, access controls, and full white-labelling under your own Apple and Google developer accounts.
Two Next Gen Limitations to Know Before You Upgrade
Next Gen does not support Tutor LMS yet
The React Native app does. If your community runs on Tutor, stay where you are for now. BuddyBoss states this plainly rather than burying it, which we appreciate, but it is a hard blocker if it applies to you.
The Developer Toolkit does not work with Next Gen at all
It only connects to React Native. New app purchases do not include Developer Toolkit access, and moving an existing React Native licence down to a Next Gen-only plan ends that access permanently. If you run custom development on your app, do not change plans without talking to BuddyBoss first.
How to Move Your Existing App to Next Gen
Next Gen is included in the subscription you already hold. Nothing new to buy.
You also keep your React Native app. Existing React Native apps remain fully supported with no migration deadline, so you hold both for as long as your subscription runs.
Moving over is a toggle in BuddyBoss App then App Next Gen, not a rebuild. Your store listing, URL, reviews, ratings and download history all stay exactly where they are. Members receive it as a normal app update with no reinstall.
What Is Coming Next for the BuddyBoss App
App onboarding, a guided first run for new members that doubles as a natural place to present your memberships. And in-app purchase improvements, including purchase triggers and showing annual and monthly plans side by side.
BuddyBoss has not put dates on either, which is the right call.

Member Blogging: Let Your Community Write Your Blog
Members can now write and publish real blog posts from the front end of your site, without ever seeing the WordPress dashboard.
They get a block editor, add a featured image, pick a category, add tags, preview and publish. Everything they write lives under a Blogs tab on their profile.
You manage it all from the dashboard as normal, because these are real WordPress posts rather than a parallel content system.
Three things shipped together, and they land on different plans:
| Feature | Plan needed |
|---|---|
| ReadyLaunch blog templates | BuddyBoss Platform, free |
| Bookmarking and blog subscriptions | Launch and Scale |
| Member Blogging front-end publishing | Scale, as a separate add-on download |
How to Control Who Can Publish on Your Blog
Permissions can be set five ways: WordPress Role, Profile Type, GamiPress achievements or points or ranks, Membership plan, or Gender profile field.
The GamiPress and Membership options are the interesting ones. Publishing rights become something members earn through participation, or something you include in a paid tier. That turns your blog into a status ladder or a product rather than an open submission box.
Why Member Blogging Helps Your Site’s SEO
Content members create inside a community normally stays there, behind a login, invisible to search. Member Blogging produces real WordPress posts on your own domain that search engines index.
A member writing something genuinely useful can bring in the next member. Your community starts doing acquisition work instead of only retention. This is one thing closed platforms like Facebook Groups cannot offer at all.
What the 2026 Launch Does Not Fix
Being straight about the parts that have not changed.
BuddyBoss is still resource-intensive
Running a social network on your own server is heavier than running a blog. Budget for proper managed hosting from day one. Shared hosting will not do it.
The setup curve is still real
One platform instead of three is genuinely simpler, but this is not a weekend launch for someone new to WordPress.
Renewal pricing still doubles
The $99 and $199 figures are first-year promotional rates. Year two is $199 and $399. Plan your budget on the renewal number, not the intro number.
Support is still ticket-based
No live chat, no weekend cover.
Where BuddyBoss Now Sits in the Community Platform Market
Community platforms have consolidated hard over the last two years. Circle, Skool, Mighty Networks and Kajabi have all moved toward bundling courses, community and payments into a single subscription, because creators stopped wanting to assemble their own stacks.
BuddyBoss was the outlier holding a modular position on WordPress, which was a genuine strength for people who wanted control and a genuine weakness for everyone else.
This launch closes that gap without giving up the thing that made BuddyBoss different, which is that you own the site, the data and the member relationships.
The pricing move is the more aggressive part. A $99 entry point on WordPress undercuts every hosted alternative by a wide margin, and hosted platforms cannot answer the white-label app at all without enterprise pricing.
Our BuddyBoss vs Mighty Networks comparison goes deeper on that trade-off.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy Memberships and Courses separately?
No. It is free and included on the Launch and Scale plans. You install it as an add-on from BuddyBoss then Settings, or BuddyBoss then Add-ons if it is not under Settings.
Should I switch off LearnDash or MemberPress?
No. Both are still fully supported, both still deliver inside your branded app, and neither carries a BuddyBoss fee. This is for people starting fresh who would rather buy one product than three.
What are the old Pro and Plus plans called now?
Pro is now Launch. Plus is now Scale. Existing customers keep the same features and the same renewal price. You will still see the old names in some BuddyBoss documentation.
Does the Next Gen app work with my LMS?
It supports BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses, LearnDash and MemberPress. It does not support Tutor LMS yet, though the older React Native app does.
Will moving to Next Gen lose my app reviews or ratings?
No. It replaces your existing app in the same store listing under a higher version number. Your URL, reviews, ratings and download history all stay. Members get it as a normal update.
What does BuddyBoss take from my course sales?
Nothing on Launch and Scale. The Start plan takes a small percentage on sales through BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses via Stripe. Nothing is ever taken from LearnDash, MemberPress, Tutor, LifterLMS or WooCommerce sales.
Which plan do I need for Member Blogging?
Scale, and it is a separate add-on you download from your account. Bookmarking and blog subscriptions come on Launch and Scale with nothing to install. ReadyLaunch blog templates are free on Platform.
Our Verdict: Who Should Buy BuddyBoss Now
This is the launch that makes BuddyBoss recommendable to people we previously steered elsewhere.
The three-plugin stack was a real objection and it is gone. The $99 entry point removes the price objection entirely. The app rebuild fixes the performance complaints that dogged the React Native version for years.
What has not changed is that BuddyBoss still asks more of you than a hosted platform does. You still need decent hosting, you still need to be comfortable with WordPress, and you still need to plan for renewal pricing that roughly doubles in year two.
If you were on the fence because of the stack or the cost, that reason is gone. If you were on the fence because you wanted something you could launch in a weekend without touching WordPress, that is still not this.
